FAQ

Questions about DashChat?

Privacy, safety, and control come first. Here’s how DashChat protects drivers and how the rest of the platform works.

How does DashChat protect my privacy?

Privacy is a top priority at DashChat. Your personal account information is kept private. Other drivers do not need access to your name, phone number, email address, home address, or exact location to connect with you through DashChat. For now, your username is the only personal profile information shown publicly.

How does DashChat prevent harassment or unwanted messages?

Harassment is not tolerated on DashChat. Threatening, abusive, harassing, or persistently overly negative messages can lead to account restrictions or removal. Users can also block and report other accounts. Serious threats or emergencies should always be reported to the appropriate local authorities.

Can someone keep messaging or notifying me if I do not respond?

No. Repeat contact is intentionally limited. A user can send only one initial message or connection request. You will not keep receiving messages or repeat notifications from that person unless you choose to accept the connection.

Can anyone message me?

A driver can send an initial message only when messaging is available for the claimed vehicle. After that first message, the conversation cannot continue unless you accept the connection. You can also block or report the sender.

Can someone see my phone number or home address?

No. DashChat messaging happens inside the platform, so another driver does not need your phone number, email address, home address, or other private account details to contact you.

Can I contact someone by license plate?

DashChat lets you search a license plate and see whether the vehicle has been claimed on the DashChat network. If messaging is enabled on a claimed vehicle, you can contact the driver through DashChat.

Can DashChat tell me who owns a car?

DashChat is built around vehicle and driver profiles created inside the network. It is not designed to expose private DMV ownership records, home addresses, or personal phone numbers.

What happens if a vehicle is not claimed?

Signed-in users can use a lookup credit to identify a vehicle when the plate is available in the vehicle lookup database. The driver cannot be messaged through DashChat until the vehicle is claimed and messaging is enabled.

Do I need an account to search?

You can start with a free DashChat network search. Signing in unlocks broader vehicle lookup features and messaging for claimed vehicles.

How many free lookup credits do I get?

New signed-in accounts currently receive three vehicle lookup credits during beta. Cached or already-known DashChat results do not use a lookup credit.

What if the license plate lookup is wrong?

Vehicle lookup data can be incomplete or inaccurate. DashChat does not guarantee that every plate will return a result or that third-party vehicle data is error-free.

Can I remove my vehicle?

Yes. A claimed vehicle can be removed from My Vehicles under Account and from DashChat search through the account controls.

Can I report harassment or misuse?

Yes. Use DashChat’s reporting and blocking tools. Reports involving harassment, threats, abuse, or repeated misuse may result in account restrictions or removal. Serious threats or emergencies should be reported to the appropriate local authorities.
